hold steady #globalkids we’re all alright
WE ARE ALL GLOBALKIDS. WE ALL HAVE STORIES TO TELL.
WE HAVE MORE IN COMMON THAN WE THINK (our govts don’t want us to think that tho)
THIS IS FOR THE KIDS OF THE WORLD WITH DREAMS LIKE MINE.
Listen to AMERIKIDS by Cold Water Theater.
i was just thinking about these songs and how i want to share them with everyone. I started writing these over a year ago and put it out last spring and i’m still super excited about these songs!! They’re songs about my friends mostly but i wanted to write songs for kids our age in this world right now. There aren’t any songs that really say the things i want to be said so i thought i’d try and write them myself. THESE SONGS ARE FOR THE YOUTH OF THE WORLD. we see shit, we’ve done shit, we are alive and we are young and intelligent. lets not forget that there are people on the other side of those computer screens that are just like us even though they may speak a different language, have a different religion, think differently, like different stuff than us but i think we have more in common than we realize. I’m not done either. these songs are just the beginning of what COLD WATER THEATER and the YOUTH OF THE WORLD are capable of. THERE WILL BE MORE MUSIC and it will get better. I am learning just like everyone else. SO LISTEN TO THESE SONGS and JOIN US! We are no longer a band but a collective of musicians, rappers, singers, poets, photographers, novelists, videographers, web designers, painters, sculptures, businessmen, architects, teachers, students, dancers, DJs and WHOEVER ELSE IS EXCITED ABOUT LIFE OR IS PASSIONATE ABOUT SOMETHING!!!! SO come chill with us. tell us your stories. talk with us. whether it be on the internet or in person. WE ARE HERE and WE’RE NOT ALONE, NOT JUST ONE, BUT ALL OF US
FOREVER AND ALWAYS

LYRICS
after the dance we went outside
i got kinda bored and she said “close your eyes and tell me about your friends”
The heat quickly dropped the stillness was thick
i felt this before when we used to sit and watch all the storms, come off of the prairie
so i started off at the beginning, the summer of the crash
2008, the summer before we’d graduate
she came to our town from the city, she had a little voice but was pretty
skinny and tall and i watched her in the halls
she used to get high and tell me things, but she wouldn’t tell me everything
i’d feed her in the mornings, but she didn’t remember a thing
some nights it’d be too much, little reminders and memories
she’d have to leave and i’d follow after her
her hand in mine for stability, she was charged with electricity
its easy to set her off when she’s really drunk
“i can see his casket with the flag on top” empty inside, then she threw up
on the floor, until i took her home
and on top of everything her daddy lost it all
he lost it in the shitty markets, she lost it on shitty carpets
we’d come home in the summer, she never found any work
she’d sit around, and these ghosts followed her
they’re these kids fucked up from IEDs
and the loans she took to pay her lease
she felt selfish so she cried a lot
she cried that day the towers dropped
she volunteered to make it seem less real
but now she can’t even feel
we are here, we’re not alone, hear us all
our blood is hot, our minds are quick, fear us all
you can’t ignore us any longer, we’re still here
lets have hope and stand together, not just one, but all of us
its not just one, its all of us
